Just Like Us

Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years... James 5:17

'...just like us...'

Elijah, mock-450-prophets-of-baal-n-call-down-fire-from-heaven elijah..

Elijah, lie-down-on-a-dead-boy and pray him to life elijah..

Elijah, 1 kings 17:1 elijah.

'...just ilke us...'

does it not blow your mind, that the stubborn/spoilt kid, the IT programmer, SAF guardsman, warehouse helper, teacher, product engineer that sits beside you in church, is someone just like brother Elijah?

Sitting in a corner of the lunchtime meeting, i missed getting the sermon CD last week on 'the making of a man of God'... and here i go stumbling right on a group preaching about none other than brother E :)

...and the word i brought away is 'just like us' :)

And the other half of it would probably be:

"According to your faith will it be done to you" - Matt 9:29b

I think over the weeks, that makes so much sense... friends around me seeking God's Will in their/our life, simply taking small steps according to faith. Pleasing Him, practically, persistently :)

Obstacles? ordinary becomes extraordinary.. not despite, but *because* of obstacles.

Application? i honestly think that at every funeral, believers should gather n say a prayer. I tell u, one fine day, there will be a knock from that coffin. Seriously.

Praise our extraordinary God.. working through very ordinary men (and women)...

...just like us...

today.

"El" - God
"Jah" - Jehovah
"Elijah" - Jehovah is God
