Humbled and Hanging On
5"Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.'
8"But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Matt 23:5-12
Thank You, Lord, for little divine appointments... how a plan for a private evening in the city somehow ended up with me talking to none other than brother K in SonicFest... bless his heart.
Another thing that struck me, reading a friends blog, how we have lots of leadership things going on... i guess im supposed to be one too.. but... just never did get very comfortable with the word 'leader'...
As the word says, "whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted". its really scary stuff too... to be caught up in it as a young man or woman, to think you are somehow more spiritual or 'better' than those 'under you'.
Dad... please, don't let me go there.
Mm... pressures are closing in too... man any of these can fill a blog entry:
big things:
my aunt is reconsidering the faith...
i'm meeting dad again...
personal struggles...
little things too:
submission... the loan which might not be coming back anytime soon.. investments which took a nose dive recently.. others..
Lord, really not up to all of it... forgive me, if i can't handle it all. I choose to give thanks... thanks for family, for my brother who understands, for salvation, and my aunt's salvation, by FAITH. for daily bread, for a comfortable place to stay n grow, for the cluster, for your wonderful church of BC and also throughout the nation and throughout the world, for friends who care enough to pray and share their time, for a steady job, for the expansion of your kingdom that takes place this very minute, for the joy of worship, music and being with You.. and for You, the God who knows and hears and cares and forgives... :)
... for even this cup of tea by my side :)
Mmm.... :) hallelujah.
Dad.. stay close..
This season is rough....
