Life Spoken into Limbo, Answers Given unto Prayer
He is faithful! He is!
Still lingering in the pit that marks the end of self at the end of yesterday, its been ages since making any hint of a decent email, call or even sms. All i could pray was "help me in my unbelief!" and "Do something to show Yourself real! today!"
...And along came professor TSY totally out of the blue, unannounced, at a prayer meeting i can only say i was using to grasp at God. bro N had mentioned this man before... and just as turning just one knob on a projector can bring the blurred and distorted images on the screen into focus, so God (yes, God :) has given this man a gift of teaching - and just one message is enough to start bringing my blur and distorted image of the christian life into focus as well.
Articulating the views of
- Being biblically charismatic, with neither the knee jerk rejection of the hyper conservative nor the hysterics and emotionalism of charis-manics
- The good of both the pentecostals and the emphasis of being "filled with the spirit" and the spiritual disciplines and reflective, contemplative nature of the evangelical and orthodox church
- Spiritual pride being the very anti thesis of true spiritualism (oh tell me abt this one... crossed that line both ways before..)
- Servanthood. Period. not leadership, not even servant leadership. Oh Lord, I don't want to go out there and learn a bunch of people management skills and organsation growth skills, i want to go out there and lead and love and serve and encourage your people. I wish they'd stop making me go there.
- Of the relational prayer always preceding the intercessory. Relate to God, let the Father play with His children, and not hammering Dad with a list of "I wants". Enjoy God. Simply put: Play play, before pray pray. Waste time with God. (ohhhh... the very thought *beam*)
- Of identity (identity!) and function... identity as a friend, function as a servant :)
- Of the anointing and power - for what? Power without love, abuse. Power without truth, heresy. But put power and love and truth, and it is the power of our Lord Jesus. I have met a few such men... very few. The 60 yr old sound man. The gangster turned pastor. In brokenness, humility, and the very love of God almost oozing out of their being, tumbling out along with their words.
Huge family decisions are before me, the pit is wide and deep, there is quite a road ahead, and time will tell... but for today, i re-embrace faith and God.
