In Search of Truth
Two days and not a single thing in my inbox or in tray :) Praise the Lord... the respite will be well used.
On one hand, one disillusioned friend, hours of reading article after article tearing apart the manifestations of the holy spirit, and sorting through a bunch of -isms / schisms that will make your spell checker see red.
On the other, a lunchtime meeting as prophetic and charismatic as they come, personal experience, encounters, testimonies, years in church and friends who are unmistakably saved because of the work and grace, charis, of God in their lives.
On both, most importantly, the Word and the Spirit. His sheep know His voice, and I am one of His... Lord, help me sort through all this, divide between the soulish and the spiritual, and find convictions based not just on personal experience or fallible ministers, but on the very Word of God. Convictions that I can run with and live by.
Not all that much has changed, but there is a rabbit hole, and we shall see how deep this goes. Lord, go with me, into the valley, and lay and re-lay, the foundations that need to be laid for whatever work You would have me do.
(To whoever reads this, catch me if i stray, please. point out my error, if you see it. but be prepared to agree to disagree and yet call me brother and join hands to reach the lost if somehow we cannot see eye to eye.)
No student of church history nor theologian am i, and i confess too much of it makes my mind wander to the song upon my heart and nearest believer to encourage, but still, it is a place i must go on the journey on faith, and here i start, with the basics, in small, digestible chunks:
We are saved by faith alone but the faith that saves is never alone (Ephesians 2, James 2)
We are under grace, not under law, but we are to keep the law, by grace (Romans 5 and 6, Galations)
We'll fail, sure, but we will continue our journey, upwards and outwards, loving God and loving our neighbour. (Luke 10, 1 John 1)
In the meantime, the daily battle still beckons, praise be to God for the Holy Spirit.
When the Spirit of God is Present...
...He comforts the afflicted, and afflicts the comforted :)
Convicting sin and shining the megawatt light of the holy spirit into the darkness of the human heart. But also, giving the peace that the world can never give, and peace the world can never take away.
Praise Him.
