Preparing for Takeoff

Thankful for the near total disappearance of anything relating to work in the office. Spending time:
- working through 'Cure for the Common Life' (interesting stuff coming up...hmm...)
- preparing for a short trip to visit HK
- surfing lots and getting up to speed on the wonderful world of bass effects :p

Persecution from home comes on a little thicker this week, and sorry to say i blew up once after a hour or so of the stuff just last night. Lord, forgive me... trying, but I need Your grace and strength.

Some random thoughts from those who have gone before:

"The greatest missionary is the Bible in the mother tongue. It needs no furlough and is never considered a foreigner." - William Townsend

"It will not do to say that you have no special call to go to China. With these facts before you and with the command of the Lord Jesus to go and preach the gospel to every creature, you need rather to ascertain whether you have a special call to stay at home." - Hudson Taylor

"'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters, and servants and masters not to come there. And then look Christ in the face, whose mercy you have professed to obey, and tell him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish his mercy to the world." - William Booth

One thing that I love about Elder R, is his willingness to go into things with the absence of structured plans: I don't even know our itinery for visiting, and together we're expecting God to reveal it to us on the plane (preferably after 'fish or chicken sir?' and before the second visit to the inverted vacuum cleaner that passes for toilets on the plane :)

I wonder what You have in store... :)

Of David.

1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul;
2 in you I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one whose hope is in you
will ever be put to shame,
but they will be put to shame
who are treacherous without excuse.
4 Show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths;
5 guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

Ps 25: 1-5
