Pro Rest

Read and heard a couple of truths about rest recently.. heh almost coinciding with me being sick at home... whatever la :) God worked 6 days and then He rested. He didn't rest because He was tired. He just rested.

We dont have to be tired to take a rest (though we often are!) The sabbath is the first day of the week - man was designed to start by resting, *then* work. We are to work out of a place of rest.

And... there may be a link between rest and repentence too:

This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says:
"In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it...
- Is 30:15

How wonderful, that our salvation and strength can be found in repentance, and rest. That turning away from things that hinder and entangles us and displease our Dad, and ours being secure and at peace, resting in Him.

I think we all cld use a break from the world, from all the striving to be 'enough'. The striving to do things better, look better, sound better, be more efficient etc.. sure, they're all gd (dear musos n bros n sis in events min out there - be excellent for the King amen?), but one does need rest too :)

A long walk, a long nap, a long soak in the pool (heck i might even swim half a lap or so :p), a long chat with someone you can be totally open with, a sleep in, do some 'horizontal meditation', pray urself to sleep lying down, doze off with a warm cup of milk in an air con room with some cookies at the side, switch off the hp..

ahhhh :p

*lights out*
